Sustainably Supplying Quality Logs and Firewood

Responsible, sustainable firewood & log supplies

Our Gallery

Here at Grendon’s Firewood, we’re a professional supplier of top quality seasoned firewood, logs and kindling, based North of Witheridge, Devon. Our family-run business is located within our own 150 acres of woodland and specialises in providing both, softwood and hardwood logs.

With new government regulations in place it's time to take a closer look at the firewood options available. At Grendon Woodlands we believe in working on an environmentally sustainable, even environmentally beneficial product. We air dry (season) our logs for a minimum of six months and much of it for longer than that. Our timber is grown in a large woodland that is managed as much for its wildlife potential as it is for the firewood.

Did you know that in the process of seasoning there is zero carbon dioxide produced? The current vogue for kiln-dried wood, which ‘forces’ wood to dry in a kiln, produces 1.65 tonnes of carbon dioxide for every tonne of wood dried. Not only that, a lot of kiln-dried wood is imported, often from the Baltic States, adding considerably to its carbon footprint.

If you want to keep your house fires burning but want to leave as little impact on the planet as you can you should buy sustainably and locally produced firewood that has been seasoned using just air and time!

Firewood

The Finest Logs and Firewood

Sourced from our own sustainable woodland area, our softwood and hardwood logs are available all year round. Stored in a barn to retain a healthy level of moisture, the logs are seasoned to prevent smoky fires, making them perfect for use as firewood.

About Grendons Firewood

Choosing sustainably sourced logs is crucial to saving our woodland areas from being destroyed. At Grendons Firewood, based North of Witheridge, Devon, we have our own piece of woodland, with seasoned logs being produced by the natural process of woodland thinning. This not only results in the production of quality firewood, but also helps the wildlife and woodland to thrive. The woodland was planted by our owner more than two decades ago, and during this time he and his wife have planted more than 100,000 trees. Using more than 20 years of experience, our founder prunes the woodland and stores the logs in a barn to retain healthy moisture levels. The logs are then supplied to our customers all year round, via collection or delivery.

Contact us today to arrange collection or delivery of logs and firewood and hire state-of-the-art logging equipment with the experienced team to operate them - we can save you time and money with our hire services. We’ll also be more than happy to answer any queries you may have about our log supplies, practices, and products. So, please do contact us should you want to make sure of anything.
